Hi,
I'm not trying to start a troll in this mailing list,
so please consider this mail gently.
With some friends we are actually translating some documents
about FreeBSD in French, and we have a question about the freeBSD
logo "The power to serve".
In main documents, is a word by word translation "le pouvoir de servir".
I'm not really happy about that because if we translate it in English
again (thanks google) it means "The capacity to be useful".
As I understand this logo purpose is to say, FreeBSD gives you the power
("puissance" in French) to serve your needs.
In this point of view "La puissance ? votre service" is a more convenient
logo.

It's simple imho: Choose what you think is best. Only a native speaker
can feel what's right. Translating literally in any language given
always ends in confusing and ugly terms. If you are not sure or
there's no proper term in your given language use the English
original and stick with it.
Best regards and thanks for your hard work!

I think your alternative does a much better job of conveying the idea behind
the logo. Good luck with the very welcome translation work.
